SECOND SUNDAY MATINEES
Come join the fun at the Knox County Public Library on the second Sunday of October, November, and December at the KCPL Fortnightly Building. Help yourself to a free bag of popcorn and a beverage and sit back and watch a classic film. Each film will have a Hoosier actor who has won acclaim or another Hoosier connection. The films will begin at 2:00 p.m. and generally last an hour and a half. The films will be introduced by Mark Kratzner, owner of Hall of Hollywood Hoosiers.

October 10th the feature will be "Sitting Pretty" starring Hoosier Clifton Webb. He was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Actor for his performance as Mr. Belvedere the arrogant babysitter of three naughty boys. The role was such a favorite that two more Mr. Belvedere movies were spun off in addition to a TV series.

November 14th the film will be "Hoosiers." This film which is set in the 1950s was shot on location in several Hoosier communities including Indianapolis, Knightstown, and New Richmond, Indiana. Gym fans will enjoy seeing Hinkle Field House and the “Hoosier Gym.” Mark will share a bit of his experience as an extra in the crowd at “Hoosier Gym.” The film, about an small-town team that wins the state championship, is a classic.

December 12, will feature "Meet Me in St. Louis." While this film show-cases Judy Garland look for a role by Hoosier Marjorie Main. Note that she is listed on the promotional materials. This indicated her name had value for promotion. Marjorie Main went on to be nominated for an Academy Award for her role in Ma and Pa Kettle. While the film spans a period of time one of the outstanding songs from the film is “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” so look for holiday twists at the viewing - maybe red and green popcorn!
