Main Library 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Vincennes native and author Michael Ottensmeyer, will hold a book signing at the Knox County Public Library on August 10th, beginning at 10:00 AM and continuing until 2:00 PM. The event will feature Ottensmeyer's recently published story about the life of his father entitled "The Great Otts." The main character of the story, Edward J. Ottensmeyer Jr. II, spent his formative years as a street-wise kid in Chicago, then came to Knox County at the age of 15 to live with his uncle, George Deem on the Old Decker Road south of Vincennes. After graduating from Decker High School, he served in WWII. Upon his return to Knox County, he married Agnes K. Vieck, purchased his own farm, and raised six children. Eventually, Edward and Agnes Ottensmeyer started and managed a successful Real Estate company. "The Great Otts" is a touching tribute that reveals the true humanity of a father of six and a card carrying member of what has been called "The Greatest Generation."
